The Paradise Valley FFA Chapter will hold our first Plant Sale of the new season on March 31st, 2012. We would love to see you there!

We would love for all of our members, parents and supporters to come out to PV from 8AM-12PM and come buy some plants! We have a variety of landscape plants, flowers and other plants for sale.

We will even have fresh Tilapia fillets available for purchase at the plant sale as well. Just ask one of our expert students to fillet some fish for you!

For more information on what plants are for sale, prices, inventory, plant care questions or any other questions you may have contact either Mr. Norris or Isaiah Govea, the Student Director of Operations for the Paradise Valley Agriscience Program!

PV FFA Kick’s Off FFA Week

02/24/2012

On February 23rd, 2012 Paradise Valley FFA Held its 2nd annual FFA Week kickball game at Paradise Valley Park.

It has become sort of a tradition in the past couple of years for us to head on over to PV Park to play a game of Kickball and grill some hot dogs during FFA week to celebrate.

We played a couple of rounds of kickball, grilled some hot dogs and even gave out an MVP award to Paradise Valley FFA member Halie Shadd for outstanding effort on her team!

It was a great way to celebrate FFA Week 2012 and to carry on the tradition. We hope to continue this tradition in the future and maybe even expand it to invite other chapters and supporters in the future!

District CDEs

02/10/2012

On February 8th, 2012, Paradise Valley FFA Members attended the Black Canyon FFA District CDE Field Day. We took three teams up to compete.

One of the teams competed in the Aquaculture CDE. As part of the Aquaculture CDE, team members must be able to identify different species of fish, take a written exam and perform a hands-on practicum. Our team did very well Donald Coon placed 3rd place individually and Isaiah Govea was 4th place individual and they received 2nd place as a team.

We also had one member of our chapter, Tanner Kemp, compete in the Job Interview CDE. This CDE involves the different skills required for interviewing for and obtaining a job. This CDE allows its participate to prepare for the workforce by having them put together a resume, go through different interviews, write a follow-up letter and more.

We had one other team compete and that was the Wildlife Team. This CDE involves identifying different animals found in Arizona, using GPS to navigate, using pacing to judge distance and many other skills necessary for surviving in the wild.

We are very proud of all of our CDE participants and we wish them the very best of luck as they move on to the state level to compete at the University of Arizona in March.
